KIELE
Here is an interview spot I did of my friend Kiele Lehel. She in herself is an amazing poet. Intelligent, pretty, and a lot more mature than I was at her age, Kiele is someone I am very proud of. I’m proud of how much she’s grown since I met her, I’m proud of her honest confessions through her poetry, and I am proud most of all, that she is not afraid to share it with the world.
Here is our Q&A:
Where were you born and raised?
I was born and raised in Hawaii. Even though I’ve lived all over the island, Kailua is always my home.
Did you come from a two parent home?
I had a rocky childhood although both parents were present. Never, however, was there a lack of love in my house.
Do you have any siblings?
I have two brothers TJ(20) and Kaipo(19).
What is the thing you loved most about your childhood?
I loved the big family gatherings we would have at my grandparents house. We’re a really close family where theres always a lot of laughs.
Are there any things that you would like to change about your childhood? Or about yourself?
I dont know that there is anything I would specifically change. I mean there was a lot of fucked up things that happened but it made me the person I am today.
What or who are your biggest inspirations/motivations/ambitions?
Life inspires me. I’m such an observationalist. I watch and listen to things around me. Then I write what I feel.
What is the most recent event that has affected your life in a positive way?
I’ve had tons of blessings in life as of late. I really am stoked working with a local radio station doing voice overs. I know it sounds small but it’s a way to use my voice even if it isn’t poetry persay.
What is the most recent event that affected your life in a negative way?
Boys are always drama but I write the best stuff from a wretched heart.
Where do you hope to be when you’re 30?
At 30…hmmm… don’t quite know where life is heading right now but wherever I end up, I just hope I’m happy and healthy.
How can people contact you or read some of your work?
I don’t really have contact info as of yet. I should start a poetry blog for myself…
What are some things that you are into? Hobbies?
My hobbies are: writing, beach, talking stories, music, promoting and laughing.
What else would you like to add on for our readers?
Just take the time to write. Take time for you. Life can get me so wrapped up in the day to day and I’ve learned to use writing (poetry, free write, anything!) as my therapy…
Thank you Kiki for taking the time to answer these questions for me! Soon, I hope you’ll be able to share some of your work on this site for the visitors of monzsense.com to read! *applause*
